Ron was struggling with a difficult spell when Hermione walked over.
“Need help?”
Ron nodded.
“Yes, actually.”
Hermione picked up his wand.
“Give it to me.”
Ron handed it over.
She cast the spell perfectly.
Ron stared at her.
“That was supposed to be helping me learn.”
Hermione smiled.
“It was.”
Ron frowned.
“How?”
She handed the wand back.
“Now you know exactly what you're supposed to do.”
Ron looked at the wand.
“And if I still can't do it?”
Hermione smiled.
“Then I'll help you again.”
Ron tried the spell.
Nothing happened.
He looked at Hermione.
“That didn't work.”
“I noticed.”
“So what did I do wrong?”
Hermione pointed at his wand.
“You're holding it backwards.”
Ron looked down.
“Oh.”
Hermione laughed.
“At least we found the problem.”
Ron tried again.
This time, a small spark flew across the desk.
“See?” Hermione said.
Ron smiled.
“I'm getting better.”
Hermione nodded.
“Slowly.”
Ron looked offended.
“You could have just said ‘well done.’”
Hermione smiled.
“Well done.”
Ron grinned.
“That wasn't so hard.”
“Don't get used to it.”
