Draco once told Snape,
“I think I've finally figured out how to become your favorite student.”
Snape looked up from his desk.
“This should be interesting.”
Draco proudly placed a perfectly organized stack of potion notes on the desk.
“I studied every detail.”
Snape glanced at the notes.
“And what exactly do you expect me to say?”
Draco smiled.
“That I'm impressive.”
Snape quietly replied,
“You are certainly something.”
Draco frowned.
“That doesn't sound like a compliment.”
Snape picked up the first page.
“Your notes are neat.”
Draco smiled again.
“Thank you.”
Snape turned the page.
“Your potion calculations are accurate.”
Draco looked pleased.
“So I'm improving?”
Snape nodded.
“Technically.”
Draco leaned forward.
“And what would make me exceptional?”
Snape thought for a moment.
“Knowing when to stop asking questions.”
Draco went silent.
Snape returned to his work.
After a few seconds, Draco whispered,
“Was that a lesson?”
Snape replied without looking up,
“No. That was your final chance.”
Draco quietly collected his notes.
“I'll take the technically.”
